Englishwoman Alexandra Peters fired a course record-equalling 63 to move two strokes clear of compatriot Charley Hull after the second round of the Ladies European Masters.

Peters followed up gains at the second and third with seven birdies on the back nine.

The rookie's performance matched the previous course record set in 2013.

21-year-old Peters' back nine 29 equals the all-time record on the Ladies European Tour, giving the Nottinghamshire-born golfer the lead for the first time as a professional.

Hull looked set to challenge for the outright lead after rattling in a hat-trick of birdies midway through her round.

However the 19-year-old drove in to the trees on her final hole to close with a five-under 67.

Overnight leader Sophie Giquel-Bettan dropped to third place, three shots off top spot.
