Petr Cech spoke to the media on Wednesday (1st July), following his transfer from Chelsea to English Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

"It's tough in a way, even for me and for some Chelsea fans. But I think it was the right decision for me to make because, as I said, I'm in the stage of my career that I am far from being finished and being happy to sit on the bench."

"Last season, I realised how much I love playing football on regular basis, how much I love to be a part of the team week-in, week-out, and as I said, my commitment and, approach to football is the same as at the beginning of my career and I realised this is not my time for me to go and sit on the bench. Because I believe that I still have, and during the season all those matches I played, I proved to myself that I still have the level required to play in the Premier League, in the Champions League, in the best games, and the reason I decided to make this move is purely a football reason, because I want to have that feeling every week to be on the pitch and have the possibility to play, to win games, to win trophies and to be part of the team, and it is as simple as that."

"The project, I spoke to (Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger. It was something which made me.... in a way to go to Arsenal because, as I said, I have a big personal ambitions and motivation to win trophies and win games and Arsenal Football Club has the same, and, last season, it was a great season for them. But there was something missing, just the little last, jump over the hurdle to, they were very close. So, I believe that this team has the potential to jump over that hurdle and challenge for the trophies."
