Ryan Briscoe was lucky to escape with just bruising after a heavy crash with two laps remaining as Graham Rahal went on to win a dramatic MAVTV500 on Saturday, (27th June).

Ryan Briscoe was lucky to escape with just bruising after a heavy crash with two laps remaining as Graham Rahal went on to win a dramatic MAVTV500 on Saturday.

He was just clear of the field with two laps remaining when, behind him, Briscoe came together with Ryan Hunter-Reay, sending Briscoe sailing through the air. 

The nose of Briscoe's car came down hard in the grass and sent him spinning before coming to a rest. 

A little over a month ago Briscoe had replaced James Hinchcliffe following a near-fatal crash during Indy 500 practice, and he luckily escaped this one himself. 

The officials decided to let the field finish as the wreck was sorted out, and Rahal came in under a yellow-chequered flag. 

Rahal ended a 125-race winless streak with his second career IndyCar victory - his inaugural victory was at St. Petersburg back in 2008.
