Spieth 'will be nervous' going into the final day of US Open

  • Intro:

Reaction after the third round of the 2015 U.S. Open Championship at Chambers Place Golf Course, University Place, Washington.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jordan Spieth, 1-over par for the day, 4-under par for the tournament, when asked about looking ahead to tomorrow:

"Yeah, I think as I sleep on it and wake up there will certainly be some nerves. It's not like I'm a veteran at this by any means. But by the time we tee off, if I can convince myself that I'm free rolling, I've got one of these, and the other guys are trying to chase their first. I know how hard it is to chase your first and close it out. If we can use that winning formula we had back in April, mentally, then all it comes down to is can I just pull off the shots and it's all on execution. And my execution hasn't been phenomenal this week. I've saved it with some midrange and long putting, but you can't rely on that, especially on a Sunday at a U.S. Open. That's as hard of a golf course as you're going to see every year. So I'm going to need to execute a little bit better, because mentally I think I'll be strong enough to pull it off."

SOUNDBITE (English) Dustin Johnson, even-par for the day, 4-under par for the tournament, on his third round play:

"Yeah, I thought I played really well today. Obviously the setup was very difficult. The golf course is playing really firm and fast. It's just tough out there. I played really well today, I thought. A few three-putts. Other than that I felt like I putted it well, just missed a few short ones. I made some putts, too. But really could have been a good day today."

SOUNDBITE (English) Branden Grace, even-par for the day, 4-under for the tournament, on looking ahead to the final round:

"I'm stoked. I can't wait. Tomorrow is going to be a good one. Like I said, this is what we play golf for. So it's my dream to lead a tournament or tying the lead. I don't know what Jordan made on the last. To go into a tournament like the U.S. Open, having a chance to win my first major is something special."
