Henrik Stenson: U.S. Open like "putting on broccoli"

Sunday, June 21 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Reaction after the second round of the 2015 U.S. Open Championship at Chambers Place Golf Course, University Place, Washington on Friday (19 June).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Henrik Stenson, four-over par for the round, one-under for the tournament, on the frustrating course conditions:

"Yeah, a little disappointed with some of the shots I hit. But it wasn't my best day. It was tough out there. The way we're playing this course in the afternoon compared to the morning, I don't know, it's borderline laughable at some of the greens and some of the pin positions, when we're actually almost better off plugged in a bunker than being on the top of a ridge, like on the fourth. And it's pretty much like putting on broccoli, as well. So I don't know what to say other than that, really. Obviously the way you play is going to affect in the scoring, but I'm sure many of my colleagues would kind of fall in on a few of those remarks."

SOUNDBITE (English) Henrik Stenson, four-over par for the day, one-under for the tournament, on the poor conditions of the course:

"If you're doing any good in this championship you're playing late in the afternoon, and it's going to be more like we had today. So it's obviously good practice for the next couple of days. But I mean, I think it's one of them if you speak your mind, it's going to cost; it's just a question of how much it will cost me. I probably should leave it at the remarks that I just had."
