  • Intro:

Defending champion Grigor Dimitrov suffered a shock defeat to Gilles Muller in the second round at Queen's Club on Thursday (18 June), but Andy Murray progressed at the expense of Fernando Verdasco.

John Isner and Viktor Troicki reached the quarter-finals of the Queen's Club tournament on Thursday (18th June).

    Script:

Play at Queen's Club continued on Thursday with an eye on Wimbledon.

Grigor Dimitrov triumphed at Queen's a year ago and was up against Gilles Muller as he looked to keep his chances of successive wins alive.

However, the 24-year-old struggled throughout the day with chances of an upset growing steadily.

In fact, Muller proved too strong and dumped Dimitrov out 6-4, 7-6.

Muller's reward for the impressive win will be a quarter-final match-up against an in-form Andy Murray.

The Scot overcame Fernando Verdasco with considerable ease 7-5 6-4 to ensure passage to the next round.

So far, Murray looks to be one of the few players already in top gear, and will no doubt have his eyes firmly set on Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, John Isner is also through to the quarter-finals after an impressive encounter against Feliciano Lopez.

The big serving American hit 36 aces, while Lopez hit 29 of his own in a match that saw all three sets be decided by tie-breaks.

Finally, there was another upset as fourth seed Marin Cilic failed in his bid to repeat his 2012 title run,

He was beaten in three sets by Serbia's Viktor Troicki, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.
