    Script:

Preparations for Wimbledon continued this week at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle where second seed Kei Nishikori was up against German wild card Dustin Brown.

Brown served up a disappointing double-fault to give the Japanese two break points at 5-5 in the first set.

He never recovered from his error as Nishikori closed out the first set 7-5, before dismantling Brown in the second 6-1 to go through to the semi-finals.

There he will face the big serving Jerzy Janowicz.

This after the Pole defeated Colombian qualifier Alejandro Falla in a hard fought encounter that went the distance, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

Later on in the afternoon, it was the turn of Andreas Seppi and Tommy Robredo.

The unseeded Italian was looking to cause an upset in what was their 11th meeting.

Seppi managed to save six of eight break points in the match and needed as many as six match points to close it out as he eventually prevailed in over two hours, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 against the Spaniard.

He can now look forward to a semi-final match-up against the fourth seed Gael Monfils.

The Frenchman made reasonably light work of the Mikhail Kukushking of Kazakhstan, winning in one hour and 24 minutes, 7-6, 6-4.
