  • Intro:

Third seed Tomas Berdych beat Victor Estrella-Burgos to reach the second round of the Gerry Weber Open in Halle on Tuesday (June 16th), while Andreas Seppi defeated Tommy Haas in straight sets.

    Script:

Tuesday afternoon action continued at Halle with World No 6 Tomas Berdych in action, and a lucky break for the Czech player.

He broke Victor Estrella-Burgos to lead 4-2.

Berdych would take the first set 7-5 and then took complete control of the match as he dominated Estrella-Burgos from the net.

The man from the Dominican Republic got one break back, yet couldn't force another as Berdych rounded off a 7-5, 6-3 win to progress.

After them, it was the battle of the veterans as Andreas Seppi took on 37-year-old Tommy Haas.

The pair had met at Halle four years ago, with the Italian winning that one.

Seppi again went ahead, 7-5 he took the first set.

The second proved far easier, with a 6-2 socreline.

Seppi will now play Tommy Robredo in the second round.
