"I think also on the issue of Armenia, that there has been a great accomplishment in these Games. It's thanks to (IOC) president Bach and (EOC) president (Patrick) Hickey, who both also went to Armenia before, we have had the participation of all 50 NOCs in this European Games, so all European countries are participating in these Games, and this is - as Simon (Clegg) said - a demonstration that sport unites, and I know that president Bach made such declarations yesterday before leaving, and I think this is very positive that we have all 50 nations being present here including nations that maybe they have problems between them on a political level."

"Azerbaijan has invested a lot, and they have invested a lot into sport, not just in the European Games, they are investing in the youth of their country, to develop more into sport, and we are seeing their successes in sport. They're gaining more and more medals in all international events. On the other hand, they are investing because they will be hosting major sporting events coming forward. In addition to Formula 1, of course, not only just Olympics - Formula 1, chess, the Islamic Games, football - the Euro of 2020 - and I think that all of these things demonstrate that Azerbaijan is committed to follow up on this, and on the success of the European Games, and I think that from what we have seen so far - spectacular opening ceremony, great running of the operations of the Games - I think that they have demonstrated to all of us, the Olympic family, that they could be an excellent host for an Olympic Games as well."
