Reaction following the men's triathlon at the European Games in Baku on Sunday (14th June), as Gordon Benson has hailed the team effort that helped secure him Great Britain's first gold medal of Baku 2015.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gordon Benson, gold medallist, 2015 European Games men's triathlon: "I was aware I wasn't among the favorites. You could write down ten names that could possibly win the race, and I almost wouldn't write myself in that top ten, but I said to myself that if I did everything right and we play our cards right and stuff, there's no reason why I can't win, and I thought 'everyone here's beatable, and I'm just going to put everything on the line and do what I can and try to win Team GB that gold medal, and thankfully I delivered."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gordon Benson, gold medallist, 2015 European Games men's triathlon : "Yeah, it's brilliant. I couldn't have done it without the lads, Phil (Graves) and Tom (Bishop) really helped me out, and it's great to come here and deliver. That's why we're here in Baku. It's great to be part of Team GB, a winning team, and I'm happy to take the gold home."

Question: Phil (Graves) was saying it's the first time that team tactics had worked charm, and as you say without the team it really wouldn't have happened?

Benson: "I don't know if there's such a thing as a perfect race, but it was close enough. The boys really delivered, we got the breakaway, and thankfully we left all the best runners behind and I had the legs to hang on. the guys did such a great job, pulled me off the front, and I had about a minute, 45 going into transition (bike to running), and maybe I needed about a minute 30 to hold off Joao Silva, he's a great athlete himself so it's great to come away in front of him."
