Rafael Nadal, Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis, Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany

    Script:

After failing to dominate on clay this season like he used to, Rafael Nadal turned his attentions to grass for the first time having received a bye into the second round in Stuttgart to face unseeded Marcos Baghdatis.

The game was littered with great rallies and a wonderful range of winners, with both players playing their part.

In the first set the Spaniard trailed 4-2 and had to fend off three break points before recovering to take it to a tiebreak which he won.

The second set also went to a tie-break which was won by Baghdatis.

So to the third set but Nadal proved to be too strong in the decider and won it 6-2.

Nadal needed two hours and 40 minutes to win 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 6-2 and book a place in the quarter-finals where he'll face Bernard Tomic
