A team from Japan, ITTE-Q, won the World Custard Pie Championships in Coxheath, England on Saturday (6th June).

    Script:

The village of Coxheath in Kent welcomed competitors for a tournament with a rich history - the World Custard Pie Championship.

The first edition dates back to 1967 and fans were over the moon to see its return on a day of sunshine in England.

Competitors never fail to impress with their costumes, the Grannies were defending world champions and received the honour of leading the teams into the arena

According to the rules points were awarded for hitting opponents with a direct shot to the face.

And teams were given five pies in the heats, seven in the semi-finals and up to 10 pies in the final.

The judges soon found themselves in a sticky situation, being unable to tell whether there had been a hit or not given the state of the competitors.

Nevertheless, the final saw the fairies up against the Japanese with the latter coming out on top and lifting the highly coveted trophy.
