  • Intro:

Reaction as Adam Voges became the oldest player to score a Test hundred on debut as Australia reached 318 on the second day of their first Test against West Indies on Thursday (4th June).

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Adam Voges, Australia batsman (On reaching century)

"Bit of a blur really to be honest. Obviously the excellent partnership with Josh Hazlewood, I was on 99 he blocked that ball, the last ball of that over there was a big roar from the crowd. And then we hadn't been taking the runs off the first couple of balls of the over and I came down and said 'I might take the first one this time mate' and he said 'yeah that's ok'. Just massive excitement, massive relief just to be able to get this opportunity and then make the most of it, it was very, very satisfying."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Adam Voges, Australia batsman (On emotions when reaching century)

"I just yelled I think, I just had my hands up in the air yelling, just pure elation. It's been a long road, it's been a lot of hard work, so like I said, just to get the opportunity firstly and now to make the most of it and get a hundred on debut is something I've been thinking about for a long, long time."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Devendra Bishoo, West Indies bowler (On his six wicket haul)

"Yeah I always said that I wanted to start off the series very well and I guess with six wickets it is. So I got a good start and I've got to keep on doing what I'm doing and finish off this series very well too. You know I got a good start and I just have to capitalise on it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Devendra Bishoo, West Indies bowler (Q: What do the West Indies need to do tomorrow?)

"We just have to go and put a huge score on the board. We have to go and bat sensible and smart and keeping the scoreboard ticking away and try to get as much runs as possible and at the end of the day (if we) get 200, 250 on the board we could stand a chance of winning the Test match. But at the end of it we have to bat well."
