  • Intro:

Reaction on Wednesday from the women's quarter-finalists at the French Open as Serena Williams and Timea Bacsinsky set up a semi-final against each other at Roland Garros.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Sara Errani, lost to Serena Williams 6-1, 6-3:

    (Q. You had played Serena very closely in that Fed Cup match last month. What was the difference today?)

"I tried to do the same, but of course the condition, everything, is different. The ball, the court, the feeling. I mean, I think that match I play really good, really with time to make the long points. Today, Serena, with these conditions, I think played much better, much stronger. So was difficult for me to make the things that I normally want to do."

SOUNDBITE (English) Serena Williams, defeated Sara Errani 6-1, 6-3:

    (Q. We were talking about how that last match against Sara Errani last month was such a tough one. What was the difference for you today?)

"I think the difference was being able to play that match. I feel if I had not played that match I probably would still be out there fighting right now. She changed her game against me, and I knew what to expect this time. It was really good that I had an opportunity to play that match in Fed Cup."

SOUNDBITE (English) Serena Williams, defeated Sara Errani 6-1, 6-3:

    (Q. This is your fourth semi-final here now. Fewer than the other Grand Slams. Is that of some significance for you, getting this far in this tournament, considering how tough it's been?)

"Yeah, definitely it's pretty awesome for me. I haven't had a great clay court season, so pretty excited to have got this far. Hopefully I can keep going. Nothing's guaranteed, you know, but just at this point I'm just fighting to just stay in the tournament."

SOUNDBITE (English) Timea Bacsinsky, defeated Alison Van Uytvanck 6-4, 7-5:

    (Q. Being in a semi-final of a Grand Slam and against Serena, what do you expect from this occasion? Do you think you're going to hit any drop shot returns?)

"Playing a semi-final of a Grand Slam every day, so I really just appreciate the moment for what I did today, and slowly start to focus this evening on tomorrow's match. But she's definitely a great champion. Having 19 Grand Slam trophies, well, that shows that, yeah, she plays quite well."
