Sepp Blatter said on Friday investigations into the 2018 and 2022 World Cup wouldn't have happened if they'd been awarded to other countries.

SOUNDBITE: (French) Sepp Blatter, FIFA President:

"Don't let the reputation of football and FIFA be dragged through the mud like that, we can't accept that because those that are behind this and those who are truly at fault especially if they are convicted and found guilty, these are individuals and not the entire organisation. These are certain individuals who have lost sight of the fact that our game is based on discipline, respect, sportsmanship and it's a team sport which means everyone needs to aim at the same goal and need to sing from the same song sheet especially when we talk about the pyramidal structure which characterises our organisation. I am willing to accept that the President of FIFA is responsible for everything but I would like to share that responsibility with you or at the very least the Executive Committee here to my left, it's your government, it's our government and I would like to share this responsibility with that government and also with you."
