    Fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki crashed out of the French Open when she lost 6-4 7-6 (7-4) to Julia Goerges in the second round at Roland Garros, but ninth seed Marin Cilic progressed to the third round after beating Andrea Arnaboldi 7-6 (7-3) 6-1 6-1 on Thursday (28 May).

    Day 5 of the French Open at Roland Garros saw another big name in the women's draw falter.

    Fifth seed, Caroline Wozniacki fell to a straight sets victory to Julia Goerges, the World No 72.

    The win for the German sees her through to face American Irina Falconi, the World No 84.

    Over in the men's draw Marin Cilic sailed into the third round.

    The US Open Champion with a straight sets win over Italia Andrea Arnaboldi.

    One top seed who did survive was Petra Kvitova.

    The World No4 with a hard fought three set win over Silvia Soler-Espinosa.

    Serena Williams had to come from a set down to beat Anna-Lena Friedsam 5-7 6-3 6-3 in the second round at Roland Garros on Thursday.

    The top seed lost the first set on the Suzanne Lenglen court, But Williams, whose 19 Grand Slam titles include the French Open crowns in 2002 and 2013, regained her composure and did enough to beat the world number 105.

    Serena now faces two time Grand Slam Champion, Victoria Azarenka for a place in the last 16.
