UEFA President Michel Platini met with Sepp Blatter on Thursday encouraging the FIFA President to resign.

Prince Ali bin al-Hussein was also present in Zurich at the UEFA meeting following arrests of FIFA delegates - on corruption claims - early on Wednesday morning.

Prince Ali is the only remaining Presidential candidate to stand against Blatter being reinstated for a fifth term as head of FIFA.

Prince Ali stated that he believes the elections should go ahead. That is something echoed by Chairman of the FA Greg Dyke. With many feeling Prince Ali now has a better chance of winning following the FIFA scandal.

Platini met with 79-year-old Blatter once the Swiss held emergency meetings with FIFA officials and suggested that amid allegations he should leave the football organisation.

Uefa, which governs European football, is due to decide later on Thursday whether to give support to Friday's election after initially suggesting it could boycott the vote.

Both Prince Ali and Platini refused to comment on whether Friday's scheduled presidential election should take place.

On a lighter note, the day wasn't going to plan when the UEFA President - due to a broken lift - was forced to take the stairs to reach his various meetings.
