Croatia's Marin Cilic eased through the first round of the French Open on Tuesday with a straight-sets win over Robin Haase of the Netherlands.
The 2015 U.S. Open champion defeated 80th-ranked Haase 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.
Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova made it through to the second round of the women's draw after knocking-out another Dutch competitor, Kiki Bertens.
The 18th-seed defeated Bertens 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
On Court Susan Lenglen, seventh-seed David Ferrer made it past Slovak opponent Lukas Lacko.
The Spaniard overcame Lacko in straight-sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1, as Ferrer - a finalist here in 2014 - begins his fight for a first-ever Grand Slam title.
Petra Kvitova also made it to the second round, but had to do so the hard way.
The fourth-seed was pushed to a third set on Court Philippe Chatrier against Marina Erakovic.
Kvitova eventually defeated the New Zealander 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
