An wins at Wentworth

  • Intro:

Overnight leader Byeong-Hun An produced a brilliant final round of seven-under to become the first ever Asian winner of the PGA championships at Wentworth, clinching victory by six shots.

    Script:

The final day of the PGA championships - who could catch overnight leaders Byeong-Hun An and Francesco Molinari?

    Chris Wood produced an ace.

The Englishman ended in fourth, and bagged himself a new car after a hole in one at the 14th - that was on his way to a final round of 66 to close 13-under overall.

It was an impressive week for Thai Thongchai Jaidee. The former paratrooper shot a final day 69 to end 15-under to finish in a tie for second alongside Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Jimenez couldn't reproduce his hole in one from Saturday, but still put together a magnificent final round of five-under.

But it was South Korean Byeong-Hun An who proved to be a class apart.

A final round of 65 - including this to set up an eagle at the 12th - ensured he finished 21-under par, a tournament record by two shots.

He was six ahead of his nearest challengers and becomes the first ever Asian winner of the event.

An is only the third player to win the tournament on their debut and the win puts him inside the world top 60, and enters him in to the US Open and the Open.
