A Formula E car broke down seconds after charging to victory at the Berlin ePrix on Saturday.

They're the electric version of the Formula 1's, but even they aren't immune to the embarrassing mechanical problems.

At the Berlin ePrix on Saturday Brazilian Lucas di Grassi dominated the field until he crossed the finish line.

The race winner's car appeared to have run out of power as it stopped seconds after he charged to victory.

A combustable engine took all the glory for di Grassi's victory lap.

He had to be towed back to the pits before lifting the elusive trophy.

A lucky win that proves even in the world of high-tech car racing - we all need longer battery life.
