  • Intro:

Louis van Gaal believes David De Gea will stay at Manchester United despite reports linking him with a move to Real Madrid. The goalkeeper is a doubt for their final match of the Premier League season at Hull because of a hamstring injury.

SOUNDBITE (English) Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United manager (on David de Gea):

"First we have to wait and see if De Gea is leaving. After that we shall we shall talk about the other things. I believe that David De Gea will stay. I want to play David De Gea in the match against Hull City because I want to play my strongest team and I think with David De Gea we have the strongest team."

SOUNDBITE (English) Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United manager (Q. Is Victor Valdes good enough to be the number one goalkeeper at Man United?):

"I have said already that I can only talk about that once David De Gea has gone. That he is good enough to be a Manchester United goalkeeper -- that is of course the case. Otherwise he wouldn't be here."

SOUNDBITE (English) Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United manager:

"David has trained today for the first time and he still has a problem so we have to wait and see for tomorrow. I cannot say that he is able to play. I have to wait and see tomorrow."

SOUNDBITE (English) Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United manager:

"I think he shall have a difficult solution because he is loved by the fans. He loves the environment here. He loves the club. He said that many, many times. When he goes, he loses that. It is a very difficult decision. I think that shows because he is not making the decision yet [De Gea hasn't made a decision]."
