Flopping fine unfair' - Warriors' Curry

Friday, May 22 2015 by SNTV
  • Intro:

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry disagrees with the NBA's decision to fine him $5,000 -- around £3,194 -- for exaggerating contact in their 110-106 victory against James Harden's Houston Rockets in the Western Conference finals opening game.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors guard:(on being fined for flopping. Q: Were you shocked when you got the call from the league?)

"Yeah, I didn't even think about that. You never know how they determine what's a flop and what's not and all that stuff. They didn't even talk to me about the play at all, so I figured they'd call and ask what you were doing or what you saw during the play, kind of get my side of it, and not just what footage they were looking at but...."

SOUNDBITE (English): Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors guard:(Q. Have you ever been warned about that kind of play? That kind of like kick out?)

"No. The refs will tell you in a game if you kick your leg out trying to get contact on the close-out or if you argue the call in the middle of a game, they'll tell you, no, the ball was already gone or you didn't get hit or you fell without contact and stuff like that, but I've never gotten a call from the league about it."

SOUNDBITE (English): James Harden, Houston Rockets guard: (Q: Do you feel like you gave one away yesterday?)

"Yeah, yeah. Just a couple mental errors, a couple, you know, slip-ups. You know they're a really good team, they go on runs and so we got to still continue to do a good job of executing offensively (and) defensively not allow them to get so many easy lay-ups and I think that was one of the cases, you know, in Game 1."

SOUNDBITE (English): James Harden, Houston Rockets guard:

"Yeah, we have a lot of confidence and so, like I said, a couple errors that we can control, that we can fix for next game. Continue to move the basketball - they're a really good defensive team and obviously a high-powered offensive team so we just got to, you know, be very efficient on both ends of the floor and we'll be all right."
