SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Ballance, England batsman (on getting back to playing cricket):

"It's pretty important. A lot has gone on in the last few weeks. As players we've tried to stay away from that and just focus on playing. It's a pretty exciting few days build up to the New Zealand test series. The first test at Lord's is always a big occasion so all the players are looking forward to it and hopefully we can start performing on the field and the cricket can take care of itself."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Ballance, England batsman (on Jason Gillespie):

"Well he's obviously a quality coach, you know he's also played a lot of international cricket and done very well. He's done well at Yorkshire and he's been good for all the players there, got the best out of all the players so if he was appointed I'm sure he'd do a great job."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Ballance, England batsman (on Adam Lyth):

"It's obviously tough but he's ready for it. He's scored thousands of runs for Yorkshire. He's ready for it and very excited. I'm sure he'll go well. Everyone backs him and if anyone has seen him play they know he'll be absolutely fine."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Ballance, England batsman (on New Zealand):

"They're obviously a good side, they've showed that in the last year or so and then in the World Cup. They've got some quality players and so have we but conditions we probably suit both teams. There's going to be some interesting cricket I think. If we start well on that first morning it will definitely give us a bit of confidence going into the rest of the series."
