Barcelona are champions of Spain. Thousands of their fans took to the streets of the Catalan city on Sunday night to celebrate their 23rd La Liga title.

That was secured with a 1-0 win at Atletico Madrid, fittingly, perhaps predictably Lionel Messi got the decisive goal. His 41st in the league this season.

It is their fifth title in seven years, they really have had the better of their great rivals Real Madrid in recent times but still remain nine short of the 32 time winners.

One thing Barca have done that Real haven't is win a treble and that could happen again this year. They have a Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao and then the Champions League final against Juventus in Berlin to come.

Coach Luis Enrique says this has already been a more than outstanding season, he will know as well as any though that this could just be the first stage of a truly historic season.
