Only one match stands between Novak Djokovic and a fourth Internazionali BNL d'Italia title.

The Serbian world number one defeated seventh-seed David Ferrer 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday to set up a match between either second-seed Roger Federer or eighth-seed Stan Wawrinka on Sunday (17th May).

Djokovic hit 26 winners and committed 24 unforced errors in the one hour, 35 minute match at Rome's Foro Italico.

Ferrer pushed Djokovic close to tie the second set 4-4, but a break point in the ninth game - his second of the day - set him on the course for victory.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Novak Djokovic:

"It was the best performance this week for me, in the right moment, obviously - the semi-finals against (David) Ferrer, who is one of the greatest competitors we have on Tour. (He is a) clay court specialist, he doesn't give you points, you have to earn them, and I played well in the important moments. It was a bit fortunate in the second set to save a couple of break points. Four-all in the second, I played a great game, closed out very well, so just overall a very solid performance."
