  • Intro:

Czech number four seed Petra Kvitova reached the last eight of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome on Thursday (14th May), following a straight sets win over Serbia's Jelena Jankovic.

    Script:

Petra Kvitova faced Jelena Jankovic in the last 16 of the Internazionali d'Italia in Rome, the 6th time the pair have met on the WTA Tour.

Jankovic was forced to retire form their most recent meeting in Doha this year, but sprang out of her blocks here securing an early break of serve.

However, once Kvitova got her game going, the Serbian number 16 seed was swept aside.

In just 73 minutes the number four seed secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory, that sets up a quarter-final showdown with Spanish number ten seed Carla Suarez Navarro, who upset Eugenie Bouchard of Canada 6-7(2), 7-5, 7-6(7).

Kvitova leads Suarez Navarro 5-4 in their head-to-head meetings, but Suarez Navarro has won their last three meetings, including two this year at Dubai and Doha.
