    Script:

Andy Murray recovered from his win in the early hours of Thursday to beat Spanish wildcard Marcel Granollers and reach the Madrid Masters quarter-finals.

The British number one won 6-2 6-0, having started his second-round match against Philipp Kohlschreiber after midnight.

Murray broke the Spaniard in the fourth and eighth games of the opening set, before breaking a further three times in the second.

The number two seed won the title in 2008 and fought back from 0-40 down on his opponent's serve in the final game to seal victory.

The 27-year-old will now face fifth seed Milos Raonic.

The Canadian enjoyed a straight sets defeat of Argentina's Leonardo Mayer 6-4 6-3.

Also into the last eight is seventh seed David Ferrer.

The 33-year-old triumphed in an all-Spanish clash with Fernando Verdasco 5-7 6-3 6-4.

The Valencia-native will now take on Kei Nishikori.

Last year's runner-up overcame home favourite Roberto Bautista Agut 6-3 6-3.
