  • Intro:

Roger Federer was knocked-out of the ATP Madrid Open in the second round by Australia's Nick Kyrgios on Wednesday (6th May), but there were wins for both Rafael Nadal and Leonardo Mayer.

    Script:

Top seed Roger Federer's second round Madrid Open match saw him come up against 20-year-old Australian Nick Kyrgios.

And this match didn't quite go the way the Swiss world number two would have hoped.

All was going to plan in the first set as he took in with a tie-break.

But he then lost the second tie-break as well as a pulsating 26 point decider in the third set.

Kyrgios took the match 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 and will now face USA's John Isner in round three.

Nadal will also be in next round as he pursues a fifth Madrid title.

The current world number four comfortably defeated Steve Johnson of the USA 6-4, 6-3 and will play Italy's Simone Bolelli.

Joining Nadal and Kyrgios will be Leonardo Mayer.

The unseeded Argentine beat 11th-seed Feliciano Lopez 7-6, 7-6 in front of the Spaniard's home crowd.
