NFL fans react to 'deflategate' report

  • Intro:

NFL fans react to report which finds New England quarterback Tom Brady was "generally aware" of under-inflated footballs being used in games - Brady led the Patriots to a Super Bowl win earlier this year, the fourth of his career.

SOUNDBITE (English) Ben Doty, Seattle Seahawks season ticket holder:

"As a Seahawks fan I'm disappointed, but because I am a fan of the NFL and - in reality - it kills the integrity of the game."

SOUNDBITE (English) Ben Doty, Seattle Seahawks season ticket holder:

"I think the thing that stings the most is that this came out right before the Super Bowl and there was nothing we could do about it. That's the game. We're not going to cancel the Super Bowl. We're not going to let the other team play in the Super Bowl. There was not fix for it at the time. So we had to go up against cheaters in the Super Bowl."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jarrell Burks, Houston football fan:

"It's the integrity of the game. Of course, it's a violent game but you don't want to go out and hurt nobody. And of course you're playing to win but you shouldn't try to get an unfair advantage, if you're going to get an advantage, let it be because you have a better player, or the better coach, like what they normally do have. I mean, they have that. They have one of the best quarterbacks in history. And one of the best coaches in history. You'd think that be enough to win. But if it does come out that they did cheat, then yeah, I do feel like they should be suspended."

SOUNDBITE (English) Stephen Kim, Dallas football fan:

"Well, they got in trouble for spying earlier, and that kind of opens a can of worms, because you wonder if other teams are doing it, not just the Patriots."

SOUNDBITE (English) Stephen Kim, Dallas football fan:

"Obviously, they'll probably inspect teams more and have a closer eye. Because they have strict rules for things like eye blackener or socks are too high, things that don't have nothing to do with the actual sport. But then here it's straight up cheating and in a playoff game, to where millions of dollars are at stake, you know, betting wise and whatnot, and jobs. People get fired for this, people get cut, people get contract extensions, and so it's something the league definitely needs to look into."
