Wins for David Ferrer, Fernando Verdasco and Gregor Dimitrov in second round of the ATP's Madrid Open on Wednesday.

    Script:

David Ferrer was up against fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round of the Madrid Open. He started well enough and went on to take the first set 6-4.

He improved further to win the second set to love.

Next up for Ferrer will be another compartriot - Fernando Verdasco.

Having lost the first set tie-break to ninth-seed Marin Cilic, Verdasco fought back to win the second set tie-break, before seeing out the match 6-7, 7-6, 6-3.

Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov suffered a scare in the first set of his match, going down 3-6 to unseeded Fabio Fognini of Italy

But, like Verdasco, the 10th seed fought back to take the second set and then he broke in the 12th game of the decider to seal his place in the third round.
