  • Intro:

With Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao just a day away, betting in Las Vegas has been 'brisk and big' according to the MGM Grand's book operator - with most of it going on Pacquiao.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jay Rood, Vice President of Race and Sports for MGM Resorts:

"Yeah, right now the line is Mayweather -200, Manny Pacquiao +170 and that line opened Floyd Mayweather -240, Manny +200 so what that tells you is that everybody's been betting Manny Pacquiao at this point. The larger bets have been coming in pretty strong as well because we've taken more six-figure bets on this fight than we did for the Super Bowl so the betting action is very strong and about 60 per cent of it is skewed towards Manny right now.

"We're offering quite a few different wagers on this particular bout just because it's so large we're offering a lot of prop bets. One of the prop bets we always offer is pick out the knockout round and that's where you choose either fighter to knock the other fighter out in a certain round and you get pretty good odds on that. Right now Mayweather, if he knocks out Pacquiao in the first round you get 60-1. But there is one round that everyone is focusing on, that's round eight Manny Pacquiao to knock out Mayweather because the eight is pretty lucky in his culture so they're focused on that round and betting it pretty heavy - it's down to 15-1, we opened at 40-1 so if he is successful in that venture knocking him out in the eighth round there's going to be a lot of happy people out there."
