SOUNDBITE: (English) Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles manager:

"I think everybody was real careful about what they said in the dugout because everyone on the field could hear it. The umpires and them."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles manager:

"A lot of times you hear people try to weigh in on things they really don't know anything about. I tell guys all the time when they talk about.....I've never been black. OK? So I don't know. I've never faced the challenges that they've faced."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Buck Showalter, Baltimore Orioles manager:

"We've made quite a statement as a city. Some good, some bad. But now let's get on with taking the statements we've made and creating a positive. I want to be a rallying force for our city."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ubaldo Jiminez, Baltimore Orioles pitcher:

"Well we had some fans out there. Definitely you could hear them because we didn't have anyone inside so they were really loud outside the stadium."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles outfielder:

"The Orioles support the city of Baltimore on everything. We support the city of Baltimore. We're out there playing for the fans. We're playing for our families, but we're playing for the fans. We play for the city of Baltimore. That's what is across our chests so we're trying represent them in the best way."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles first baseman:

"I was glad to help the team get out early. I think that was big to have a good first inning, score a lot of runs and give ourselves some breathing room. Like I said, it was weird being out there with no one in the stands, but I thought we did a really good job of focusing on what we needed to do and getting the job done."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles first baseman:

"It hit me when I made contact. You could just hear it echoing off the empty seats. Obviously when you're rounding the bases and no one cheers and you hear it fro outside the stadium, it's a weird feeling. I'll take any home run that I can get anytime I can it, but it's definitely more fun to hit them when they're sitting in the seats."
