Fifth seed Richard Gasquet made a successful return from injury with a 7-6 6-1 defeat of Marinko Matosevic in the Estoril Open.

The Frenchman was sidelined for two months with a back injury but took just 87 minutes to overcome his Australian opponent in Portugal.
