  • Intro:

A bid from Australia to host the Summer Olympics for the third time in 2028 would have a good chance of winning, says Olympic chief Thomas Bach.

    SOUNDBITE: (English), Thomas Bach:

"A bid from Australia would enjoy a lot of sympathy and would in fact have a very good chances also to win. But this is for '28, so it is a little bit premature to talk already about winning. This is why I also told already the prime minister that I would whatever I can that Australia would not be alone in this race but enjoy a tough competition because this is what Australians usually love."

    SOUNDBITE: (English), Thomas Bach:

"We are just coming here from India. I think yesterday we had a meeting with the prime minister of India, and guess what we were talking about? A bid from India for '28 was on the agenda. We also have already the indication of the one of the other bidding cities for '24 who said that if they would not succeed for '24, they would definitely go for '28."
