Tuesday saw the first stage of the Tour de Romandie kick off with a 19.2 km team time trial from La Vallee de Joux to Jurapac.

By the half-way stage, the Cannondale-Garmin team led by a second from Lampre.

However, it was far from over, and there were plenty of changes to come in the race standings.

Orica Greenedge took over at the helm with time of 21 minutes and 19 seconds.

Team Katusha meanwhile, slipped into secod place, five second behind the Australian team.

It proved a disappointing day for Nairo Quintana and his Movistar outfit, as they ended the day in tenth place.

Team Sky were touted as one of the favourites prior to the race, with the inclusion in the squad, of 2013 Tour de France winner, Chris Froome.

Sky matched Orica's time at the split, but managed to pip the latter on the final stretch by just 0.63 of a second.

Geraint Thomas led Team Sky across the line, earning him the honour of sporting the yellow jersey of the race leader.
