SOUNDBITE (English) Dick Advocaat, Sunderland coach:(on slipping into the bottom three and how confident he is that his side can remain in the Premier League)

"I still think we have five games to go and everything is open on the bottom four, five six clubs, so we try to be positive to the team, they showed that the seceond half and, as I've said, if they can do that next week as well, with the support of our supporters... In a home game, you have to do a bit more, not only the supporters, maybe the referee a little bit."

SOUNDBITE (English) Dick Advocaat, Sunderland coach:(on the physical approiach to the game associated with Stoke City and how his side coped)

"The physical side is a part of the game and we react on that better, because Stoke City are a very strong team, physical-wise and the first half everything was too easy for Stoke. I think you have to show that you are a man and that you have to fight for the ball to get the ball and it was much better organised second half, let's say it that way."

'Is John O'Shea ok?'(defender John O'Shea took a blow in the face from Stoke City's Philip Wollscheid just before half time)

"Well, he had some problems with his face, but the rest of him is OK."

SOUNDBITE (English) Dick Advocaat, Sunderland coach:

Question: 'There was no Adam Johnson today. was that a call that you made?'

(Former Manchester City and England winger Adam Johnson has been charged by police with offences of sexual activity with a child under 16 years old)

"Yeah, well, he did not train for three days, so I thought it was better for him to stay away."

Question: 'Going forward, he's someone that you will call on?"

"Well, let's wait and see what will happen the next day."
