Managers reflect on dramatic Leicester-Burnley clash

  • Intro:

Leicester City won 1-0 at Burnley on Saturday (25th April) to move out of the Premier League bottom three, but manager Nigel Pearson was unhappy with a journalist when asked if he had any advice for his fellow strugglers after his side's fourth consecutive win.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Sean Dyche, Burnley manager (on cruel nature of defeat)

"Well, the game's cruel sometimes and I think that was a show of it today when it's at its cruellest, I felt. Nothing in the first half - I thought we had a good chance where their keeper's made a big save. Second half I thought we were good, we stayed patient, we kept shifting the ball to create good quality chances, which we did of course, and their keeper's made big saves for them - arguably their man of the match. We miss a penalty, they score 60 seconds later from just a knock into the box really, but into a dangerous area and that can cause trouble, which it did. So it's just the cruel side of football, I think."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Nigel Pearson, Leicester City manager (on staying up)

"At this stage of the season, it's about getting the right results. To win four on the trot is clearly a very good achievement at the moment but I'm also wary of the fact that people may start feeling that the emphasis of pressure has changed. As far as I'm concerned, that's a bit of a nonsense because with five games to go, it's important we keep our fate very much in our own hands - that's going to be the key. And so we've got a lot of very difficult games to play and there's a lot to play for still. So if people are altering their opinion of how the bottom of the table is looking, then it's important that we stay very much focused on our own games really."
