SOUNDBITE:(English) Alastair Cook, England captain (On Moenn Ali)

"Yeah it is great to have Mo back, obviously he was a big part of our success in the summer with his wickets. So yeah it adds competition for selection certainly."

SOUNDBITE:(English) Alastair Cook, England captain (On his batting form)

"Yeah absolutely. Obviously you ask how keen I am, it's a very silly question in that sense. Yeah desperate the top of the order to set the tone well."

SOUNDBITE:(English) Alastair Cook, England captain (On batting)

"Well it's always important, it's always important, every time you play for England as a top of the order batter it's great to score runs and helping England win."

SOUNDBITE:(English) Alastair Cook, England captain (On Jonathan Trott)

"Yeah good, I think he's probably quite glad to get that test out of the way, obviously after such a long build-up between his 49th and 50th Test match and the progress that he made over that last fifteen or sixteen months, I can imagine he thought about that Test match for quite a long time. So I think he'll be better for that."

SOUNDBITE:(English) Alastair Cook, England captain (On England bowlers)

"I thought the way the bowlers came up with their plans and be able to stick to it the majority of the time was credit to them. I think as well we've made a big step actually, probably since I started playing cricket for England the ability to adjust to those conditions. Obviously we've all bowled pretty well at home in conditions to suit, but obviously when the wicket is harder for seam bowlers and it's a bit different from what they're used to, to go and find ways of trying to get wickets and create pressure I think is a huge credit to them. Obviously it helps when you've got probably one of the best bowlers we've ever had in Jimmy (Anderson) leading that and with his skills and everyone taking advice off him and he can go and do that. I am very lucky to have people like him and obviously (Stuart) Broad around to do that. But credit to the guys, as I say, it wasn't a traditional English wicket, playing quite similar to the sub continent and we've had a bit of success."
