An impressive choreography welcomed Galatasaray as they travelled to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super League in need of three points to keep top spot in the table.

And galvanised by that support, Trabzonspor found the opener in the 20th minute through Ozer Hurmaci.

The midfielder in the right place at the right time to put the finishing touch to a well worked move by the home side.

Galatasaray should have gone into the break level, but Burak Yilmaz missed an incredible chance.

Emre Colak was unlucky to see his effort crash back off the crossbar, Yilmaz had the entire goal at his mercy, but the best he could manage was the outside of the post.

The title challengers did find an equaliser in the second half, Colak again with the effort from distance, this time around it flew perfectly into the top corner.

Trabzonspor re-gained the lead with just five minutes to go however, Carl Medjani with the finish, althought there appeared to be a hint of offside to the goal.

Despite the dramatic events on the pitch, the game is more likely to be remembered for the violent ending.

Mustapha Yatabare foulded Aurelien Chedjou, and the challenge sparked a mass brawl between the teams and their respective benches.

In fact, by the final whistle, referee Ali Palabiyik had dished out 15 yellow cards and sent off Hurmaci.

The match official was subsequently hit a by lighter thrown from the stands in a disastrous ending to the game.

The 2-1 defeat means Galatasaray are now second on goal difference behind Besiktas, Fenerbahce will have a chance to go top with a win against Bursaspor on Monday.
