Two years after the bombing and two weeks after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty for his part in it, the Boston Marathon took place with a field and crowds as strong as ever.

They were treated to some great battles, in the men's race Lelisa Desisa overtook Yemane Adhane Tsegay and got clear, it was even comfortable enough for some waves, he really is so popular here as he won in 2013 and came back to the city to give his medal away after the attack that followed, he crossed the line here in just over 2 hours and nine minutes, this one he can enjoy, this medal he will keep.

Now what about this for a finish in the women's race, Mare Dibaba tiring but not so Carolina Rotich, she timed her push to perfection to take the title.

Marcel Hug won the men's wheelchair race, he finished far ahead of his competition.

And in the women's race American Tatyana McFadden was just as dominant for her third straight title.
