  • Intro:

Novak Djokovic defeats Tomas Berdych 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to win the Monte Carlo Masters for the second time in three years.

    Script:

Novak Djokovic came into this final looking for another record, if he could beat Tomas Berdych he would become the first man to win the first three ATP Masters 1000 titles of the season. Berdych broke on the very first game but the world number one responded and was soon 5-3 up, he would be made to work but Djokovic eventually won the set 7-5.

Berdych perhaps then delaying the inevitable, as was the rain which forced the players off for over an hour.

The Czech wasn't about to be swept aside though, he won 15 of 19 points on his first serve after they came back out and took the second set 6-4.

Djokovic found his rthym again in the decider to 4-0 up, Berdych clawed three games back but it was soon Championship point, with a familiar outcome...

This is Djokovic's 52nd career title, this could yet be his most dominant year.
