SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:

"I think, in terms of my team.... they tried everything to try and find a way through. It's difficult when you conceded a goal to West Brom. They pack the defence, pack the penalty area, make it very difficult to get through them. We had moments, we had margins, we certainly played with passion and controlled the game, 90 per cent of it, couldn't find a way through. I think we should have had a penalty in the first half when (Craig) Gardner just runs at Wilf (Wilfried Zaha) without looking at the ball and I was disappointed he (the referee) didn't give that.... and West Brom, for their part, dug in, stuck in, stayed in their holes, got a great second goal which was probably key for them, 'cause then they had a little cushion.... and you get confidence when you get the second goal, which I thought they played with better confidence after that. But I couldn't fault my team. We tried everything we could today, tried to unlock them, couldn't find a way through."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Tony Pulis, West Bromwich Albion manager (asked if he expected a good reception from the Crystal Palace fans as a former manager of the club):

"You never know, you never know. I just, they (the Crystal Palace fans) did very well for me last year and I hope I've, I repaid them a little bit in respect of what we did as well, in the dressing room and on the pitch. So.... as I've said before, it's a good club, it's got unbelievable potential, and I mean that. It's got frightening potential. Supporters are wonderful and, they've got a good manager now and, they could push on. Given the opportunity, if Alan's (Pardew) given the money and the opportunity to push this club forward, this club could be a, good, good club."
