Pearson: We have to keep our fate in our own hands

  • Intro:

Nigel Pearson said his Leicester City players are just trying to keep their fate in their own hands after defeating Swansea City 2-0 on Saturday (18th April) to make it three wins in a row, while his counterpart Gary Monk is still hoping his side can break their own English Premier League points record.

SOUNDBITE (English) Nigel Pearson, Leicester City head coach (on the result):

"Another very good win for us. The situation that we're in means that... I've said many times it means we're not going to have a lot of margin for error, but to achieve three wins on the trot at this stage of the season means it is a big plus for us. What I've been saying for a long time is we've got to try and keep our own fate in our own hands for as long as possible. Winning games is going to do that."

SOUNDBITE (English) Gary Monk, Swansea City head coach (on trying to break Swansea City's record for most points in a Premier League season):

"Every day it's on my mind and I try and put that in the players' minds as well. We've got five more opportunities. We wanted to do it today, we wanted to do it last week, we were a step closer last week. Today disappointing to not have any points and beat that, but we have to still use that drive and motivation to realise what a fantastic season we are having and that's what makes defeats like today even more magnified because we've had such a good season that we haven't lost too many games or in that way too often. So that's ultimately the disappointment."
