  • Intro:

Angelique Kerber lands her fourth WTA title after a 6-2 4-6 7-5 victory against Madison Keys in the Family Circle Cup final in South Carolina, America.

    Script:

Angelique Kerber overcame home favourite Madison Keys 6-2 4-6 7-5 to win the Family Circle Cup in South Carolina, America.

This was the German's fourth WTA title but her first since capturing the Generali Ladies Linz crown two years ago.

Keys hadn't lost serve all week but that record was shattered in the first game. However the Australian Open semi-finalist made amends by breaking back in the fourth.

Keys dropped her serve twice more but Kerber wouldn't make the same mistake; the 27-year-old claiming the opening set.

The 20-year-old was by far the more aggressive player and struck a mighty 49 winners throughout the match; this one levelling the scores.

Kerber found herself a break down in the third but the world number 14 soon returned the favour with a break of her own.

Keys finished with 57 unforced errors, nearly three times as many as Kerber's 21, and it proved to be the Illinois native's undoing; Kerber collapsing to the ground after prevailing in two hours and 18 minutes.
