World number 36 Jack Sock claimed his first ATP World Tour title after a shock 7-6 7-6 defeat of eighth seed Sam Querrey in the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship final in Houston.

Querrey was the overwhelming favourite in Texas but found himself a break down after just three games. However the Memphis Open semi-finalist broke straight back to level the scores.

The match then went with serve before it was delayed for over two hours because of heavy rain.

When play resumed Sock saved three set points to clinch the first set on a tie-break.

In the second roles were reversed as it was Sock who was broken first before the Nebraska native broke back to force another tie-break.

By now the momentum was firmly with Sock; the 22-year-old unleashing an inside-out forehand winner to storm into a 5-2 lead.

The player nicknamed Showtime then clinched the championship in one hour and 45 minutes. A performance to be proud of indeed.
