Wolfsburg sink Hamburg in Germany

  • Intro:

VfB Stuttgart move off the bottom of the Bundesliga at the expense of Hamburger SV after VfL Wolfsburg defeat Hamburg 2-0 and SV Werder Bremen suffer a surprise defeat by Stuttgart.

    Script:

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Rafael van der Vaart was unable to provide a cutting edge for ten-man Hamburg in a 2-0 defeat by Wolfsburg.

Cleber was robbed of possession by Kevin De Bruyne and Bas Dost played in Josuha Guilavogui for the opener.

The Dinosaur's hopes of victory were soon extinct. Daniel Caligiuri playing a double one-two first with De Bruyne and then Dost to keep Wolfsburg comfortably clear in second.

Hamburg's weekend then went from bad to worse when fellow strugglers Stuttgart earned a surprise victory against Werder Bremen.

The Reds moved off the bottom of the Bundesliga at the expense of Hamburg and took a deserved lead after 15 minutes; Christian Gentner rifling in from 25 yards.

Bremen's second half substitute Davie Selke then equalised before The Reds re-took the lead; Daniel Ginczek capitalising on a mistake by keeper Raphael Wolf.

With just four minutes left Jannik Vestergaard thought he'd rescued a point ...

But in stoppage time Ginczek delivered the coup de grace for ten-man Stuttgart.
