Brisbane Roar defeat Adelaide United 3-2 in the A-League on Saturday.

Adelaide United hosted Brisbane Roar in the A-League at the Coopers Stadium on Saturday.

Roar had only arrived back in Australia 24 hours ago after losing 3-1 in the Asian Champions League game against Suwon Bluewings of South Korea.

Roar's Serbian striker Andrija Kaluderovic got his team on board in the 26th minute when he calmly slotted from inside the area after receiving a neat pass from Jean Carlos Solarzano.

The home team had a great opportunity to pull level when Bruce Djite broke through on the near side but his shot the upright at the far end before bouncing back. Craig Goodwin, who was following up, somehow managed to blast the ball wide from close range as Adelaide United missed a great chance.

Adelaide then leaked a goal, comical in nature, after their usually reliable goal keeper Eugene Galekovic committed a horrible mistake. Galekovic ventured out of his area to clear a long ball but mis-read the bounce and then miscued his clearance and, with Solarzano lurking, ended up punching the ball into his own net.

Brisbane Roar made it 3-0 in the 54th minute when Jack Hingert fired in a low shot from the near side to beat Galekovic for his first ever goal in A-League.
Adelaide reduced the margin in the 71st minute - Craig Goodwin scoring from close range on his second wide-open chance.

The home team, who had a chance to go on top of the table with a win, were awarded a penalty kick in the stoppage time when Roar defender Daniel Bowels was shown a red card for a foul on Nigel Boogard.

Sergio Cirio stepped up to calmly slot the ball home. But it was too little too late for Adelaide United as Brisbane Roar won 3-2. They are seventh in the table with the win but with Perth Glory barred, can qualify for the finals as the sixth team in the table.
