Park: "First day mistakes cost me"

  • Intro:

Reaction after late final round action at the LPGA's ANA Inspiration

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English) Morgan Pressel, Shot a 2-under-par 70 (-8 Overall):

"You know, that shot on 18, I knew that I was two behind Stacy (Lewis) and I, it was, it just kind of brought back some memories of when I played with Karrie (Webb). I was playing in the group in 2006 when she holed the shot and so I said to my caddy, I said 'Rock, let's hole this like Karrie, let's hole it' and I can't believe it almost went in and, you know, I wanted to certainly birdie the hole but an eagle would have been nice and kind of got myself out of that large tie at seven (under par) and gave myself the opportunity to potentially win the tournament but then Brittany (Lincicome) knocked me out with that fantastic eagle and who knows what's going to happen here coming down to the end?"

SOUNDBITE (English) Lexi Thompson, Shot a 2-under-par 70 (-6 Overall):

"Yeah, I mean obviously coming into the week I wanted to win, it's unfortunate that I didn't, but I am very happy with where my game's at right now. I'm in a good state of mind and just going to go forward with confidence, especially with the way I finished here at the ANA Inspiration, I'm going confidently into my next few tournaments."

SOUNDBITE (English) Inbee Park, Shot a 1-under-par 71 (-4 Overall):

"Except for the first day I played, you know, the last three days solid - I mean, today I had no bogeys but putts never fell today so except for that I mean it's been pretty solid, just first day I made a couple of mistakes on the par-fives but that's all."

SOUNDBITE (English) Charley Hull, Shot a 1-under-par 71 (-2 Overall):

"I played really well. I hit 17, I think 17 greens in regulation - I think I did - and I could have been way under par today, I just missed so many short putts but they were for birdie but I'm happy with the way I hit it and I hit it great."

Q: Finished a major tournament in red numbers, what do you think?

"Yeah, I'm happy with that, definitely. You know in two tournaments I think I've got my full card now to play for the rest of the season, and that was one of the things I wanted to do. I've had a few good, solid tournaments."
