Intro:
England head coach Peter Moores said batsman Kevin Pietersen "isn't on the radar" as the team prepared to depart for a three-Test series against the West Indies on Thursday (2nd April).
Script:
SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Moores, England coach:(On Kevin Pietersen).
"From my point of view Kevin isn't on the radar so I can only say it so many times. It can't be in mine or 'Cooky's' focus at all."
(Q: Would you rule him out playing for England again completely?)
"That's not my decision. I've got enough decisions to make with sixteen players."
(Q: But personally?)
"It's not about me."
SOUNDBITE (English) Alastair Cook, England captain:(On Kevin Pietersen).
"Contrary to what a lot of guys read in the media and stuff I'm a long way away from that decision-making. It's down to Paul, Tom and Colin about Kevin. We've got these 16 guys going to the West Indies who are desperate to start turning around English cricket from what has happened over the last three months. We need to get back to winning ways. It's a brand of cricket, it's about trying to win this series."
SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Moores, England coach (On dropping Alastair Cook from the one-day side).
"We can look back at everything. Me and 'Cooky' (Alastair Cook) spoke all the way through. I've gone through a lot with Alastair. Alastair was disappointed not to go, it didn't work out, but we've got to look forward now. We've got to look forward at Test Match cricket, we can go no further than the next five weeks. I really think we've got to keep it really simple. There's been a lot of noise around England cricket, a lot of emotion and that was understandable. Now we've got 16 players here to go to the West Indies under Alastair and we've got to go and try and play some really good cricket."
