  • Intro:

Reaction from England manager Roy Hodgson on Tuesday (31st March) following the 1-1 draw between England and Italy in an international friendly in Turin, Italy.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England Coach:

"I thought the first half was nothing like the performances I am looking for or the players are looking for. I thought we fell well below the standards that we have been setting. In fact the whole game I thought there was very much a friendly atmosphere - there wasn't a lot of passion from the crowd and it just seemed to drift in the first half and drift very badly as far as we were concerned because we came in 1-0 down. But I thought the second half was much much closer to what we are trying to do and i thought there were moments in the second half where we actually played well."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roy Hodgson, England Coach:

"And also it was good that people like Ross Barkley and Andros Townsend to come in and show what they can really do."

    (English) Roy Hodgson, England Coach:

    (on Harry Kane)

"He did well. I thought he did very well. It wasn't an easy game and I thought he played well against Chiellini, Bonucci and Florenzi; three very strong and experienced defenders. I thought he got helped a little bit more when Wayne (Rooney) went up front and that helped him a little bit. I am more than satisfied personally with his performance."
